Prevention and Education Activities


Over 25 workshops and lectures for elementary and secondary school pupils and Parent-Teacher Councils were held from January until July 2008. Prevention-education workshops for these target groups took place in Derventa, Tešanj, Visoko, Čapljina, Hadžići, Bijelo Polje, Prozor and Mostar.
The principal objective of the workshops for the target group of pupils was strengthening of their self-esteem and providing information on risks related to suspicious job offers and circumstances that might lead to trafficking in persons. During these workshops participants received information on the trafficking in persons’ definition, methodology of recruiting and risks connected to seeking jobs abroad and within BiH.
The principal objective of the workshops for the target group of parents and teachers is basically the same, but more focused on their engagement in combating trafficking, ways of overcoming this problem or, at least, minimising its negative effects to the society through incorporating lectures on preventing trafficking into regular school curriculum.
