Interested parties were given the possibility to apply for the training through the SOS-line of La Strada BaH, as well as directly filling-in the questionnaires during the round table discussions that followed. La Strada BaH organized total of three round tables (late December 2005 and early January 2006), where participants were given detailed information about the upcoming trainings, including the exact dates, schedule, duration of the training and other particulars.
After the deadline for application was over, a meeting of the involved local NGOs was held at the premises of ITEC in Mostar. Representatives of all three NGOs discussed all applications received before the deadline. The most interesting 16 applications were chosen and all the applicants were acknowledged of the fact. The chosen ones were invited to the training and given all necessary details concerning it.
The first part of the training (so called “initial training”) was held on 12-14 January 2006. The attendants were given basic details about BIP, as well as LS BaH, LINK and ITEC and their programs. Moreover, they received information on business plans in general and were involved in various work group sessions (exercises).
During the second part of the training, that was held on 19-21 January 2006, the attendants were trained on starting small business, possibilities, possible obstacles, procedures, technical points, etc. A special attention was given to creation of a business plan for a sustainable small business.
When both parts of the training were finished, the applicants had to present their own business plans with a short speech which included all relevant information in general, as well as in details when asked to do so. After the completion of all presentations, the commission consisting of representatives of BIP, LS BaH, LINK and ITEC, gave their opinion and preferences (based on the marks they wrote on the evaluation tables during the presentations).
The best three candidates were chosen and awarded in accordance to the number of votes they received from the commission. The results of the training were announced through local media.
